Im Zentrum des Method Labs #2 „Landschaft | Raum | Ort“ stehen die natur-kulturellen Landschaften der drei von uns beforschten Kunst- und Kulturinstitutionen und ihrem Umraum. Ein zentraler Fokus des Forschungsprojekts ist die Frage nach den komplexen Zusammenhängen von Zugehörigkeitsgefühlen und Verlusterfahrungen angesichts der Veränderung vertrauter Umwelten und eine daraus resultierende veränderte Anforderung an kulturelle Bildung.
Um uns dieser Frage zu nähern möchten wir einen Landschaftsbegriff herausarbeiten, der einerseits an eine der Wurzeln des Kulturbegriffs erinnert und den schon etablierten Begriff der Kulturlandschaft aufgreift, zum anderen über romantische Landschaftsbegriffe der Kunstgeschichte oder auch einen geografischen Landschaftsbegriff hinausgeht. Dabei möchten wir Landschaft ausgehend von einer neomaterialistischen Perspektive als affektive und materielle „NaturKulturen“ verstehen und den Transformationsprozessen von Landschaft(en) in den von uns untersuchten ländlichen Regionen nachgehen.
Zugleich fragen wir nach der Rolle von Landschaft nicht nur für die jeweiligen Affekträume, die wir in den Regionen untersuchen wollen, sondern auch danach, welche Rolle Landschaft jeweils in den Angeboten und Praktiken der Institutionen kultureller Bildung spielt. Wie finden Landschaft(en), Transformationen, kulturelle Lebensweisen, Geschichten und politische Auseinandersetzungen Eingang in ihre kulturellen Programme? Und, was uns besonders interessiert: Wie kann Landschaft als politischer Begriff diskutiert werden?
Das Method Lab versteht sich als eine Forschungswerkstatt, in der Zwischenergebnisse, Material und Entwürfe der ethnographischen und künstlerischen Forschung des Projekts ,Wasteland?‘ im Oderbruch (Oderbruch Museum Altranft, Brandenburg), Wilhelmshaven und Umgebung (Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord) und Hohenlockstedt und Umgebung (M.1 Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung, Schleswig-Holstein) vorgestellt und mit Expert:innen, Vertreter:innen der institutionellen Praxis und unterschiedlicher Wissenschaftsdisziplinen diskutiert werden sollen. „Werkstatt“ bedeutet: mehr als Reden. Materialien aus der Feldforschung in Form von unterschiedlichen textlichen (z. B. performativen dichten Beschreibungen), visuellen (Foto-Essays) und auditiven Takes (Audio-/Video-Samples) werden präsentiert, aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven geprüft, und dann gemeinsam „in Form“ gebracht.

Method Lab #2: Landscape | Space | Place

The Method Lab #2 „Landscape | Space | Place“ focuses on the nature-cultural landscapes of the three art and cultural institutions we are researching and their surrounding areas. A central focus of the research project is the question of the complex interrelationships of feelings of belonging and experiences of loss in the face of changes in familiar environments and a resulting change in demands on cultural education.In order to approach this question, we would like to elaborate a concept of landscape that on the one hand recalls one of the roots of the concept of culture and takes up the already established concept of cultural landscape, and on the other hand goes beyond romantic landscape concepts of art history or even a geographical landscape concept. In doing so, we would like to understand landscape from a neo-materialist perspective as affective and material „NatureCultures“ and to investigate the transformation processes of landscape(s) in the rural regions we study. At the same time, we ask about the role of landscape not only for the respective affective spaces of the regions, but also about the role landscape plays in each case in the programs and practices of the institutions of cultural education. How do institutions relate to their rural environments? How do landscape(s), transformations, cultural lifestyles, histories, and political debates find their way into their cultural programs? And, of particular interest to us: How can landscape be discussed as a political concept?The Method Lab is meant to be a research lab in which interim results, material and drafts of the ethnographic and artistic research of the project ‚Wasteland?‘ in the Oderbruch (Oderbruch Museum Altranft, Brandenburg), Wilhelmshaven and surroundings (Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord) and Hohenlockstedt and surroundings (M.1 Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung, Schleswig-Holstein) will be presented and discussed with experts, representatives of institutional practice and different academic disciplines. „Lab“ means: more than talking. Materials from the field research in the form of different textual (e.g. performative dense descriptions), visual (photo essays) and auditory takes (audio/video samples) will be presented, examined from different perspectives, and then jointly „put into shape“.
