Gabrielle Ivinson ist Professorin für Bildung und Gemeinschaft am Institut für Bildung und Sozialforschung der Manchester Metropolitan University. Zu ihren Forschungsschwerpunkten gehört die Entwicklung kreativer Methoden, um sich auf Gemeinschaften und marginalisierte Jugendliche und Kinder, die in Armut leben, auf eine Weise einzulassen, die von dem ausgeht, was diese erleben, und die es ermöglicht, dass gefühlte und verkörperte Affekte fließen, Gestalt annehmen und durch verschiedene Medien sichtbar werden können, z.B. als Artefakte, Bewegungen, Filme und Töne. Sie ist Autorin von “Poverty and Education Across the UK: A Comparative Analysis of Policy and Place” (mit Ian Thompson, 2020) und Mitherausgeberin von “Material Feminisms and Education” (mit Carol Taylor, 2015) sowie “Rethinking Single-sex teaching: Gender, school subjects and learning” (mit Patricia Murphy, 2007). Sie koordiniert das Netzwerk „Creative Margins“ (http://www.creativemargins.net/), das sich mit der Frage befasst, wie man marginalisierten jungen Menschen Kunst zugänglich machen kann, und leitete die Kommission der „British Education Research Association’s Commission on Poverty and Policy Advocacy in education”.

Gabrielle Ivinson is professor of Education and Community at the Education and Social Research Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University. Her primary research involves developing creative methodologies to attune to communities and marginalised young people and children living in places of high poverty in ways that start from what they experience, enabling felt and embodied affects to flow, take shape and become visible through multiple media, for example as artefacts, movements, films and sounds.
She is author of “Poverty and Education Across the UK: A Comparative Analysis of Policy and Place” (with Ian Thompson, 2020) and co-editor of “Material Feminisms and Education” (with Carol Taylor, 2015) and “Rethinking Single-sex teaching: Gender, school subjects and learning” (with Patricia Murphy, 2007). She co-ordinates the Creative Margins network (http://www.creativemargins.net/) exploring how to make arts accessible to marginalised young people and chaired the British Education Research Association’s Commission on Poverty and Policy Advocacy in education.
